Google vs Bing - Is There Really User Loyalty?Aug 25, 2009

I used Bing on it’s first launch day. I was like OMG! My husband and son did not have this reaction. (This was before any search overload commercials). I said that my searching felt less clogged, more relaxed. I was less short circuited is how I described it. I search an average of 1 hour per day, which is a lot and over a 14 year period, since Windows 95 came out and I left online services for straight Internet.

So they did not suffer that ’search overload’ and they felt no need to switch.

Now I mainly use Bing, but I do use all the other engines out there secondary.

Maybe this study should be conducted again with people who have searched a lot for many years? These are the targeted users I believe.

Build 62 - Crystal Clear!Aug 14, 2009

I don’t mind running the research module. I would be interested to see what it is doing though. But I agree just let me know and let me choose what to disable or enable. I do like the latest version of Digsby. I did get the little popup letting me know that the research modiule was running. It would have been better while going through the upgrade to choose to enable it myself. I think that the Seti project was one of the first grid computing projects out there? Is this the same kind of thing (not searching for aliens, but grouping computers to gather parts of data into the bigger picture)?

Whew! coded a new cart for you in Wordpress. I did not deactivate the old one until you understand how to use it. So call me as soon as you get a chance. You will like this much better. :-) So much easier and will not be buggy and does not need to use that other service to create the cart.

Campaign to prove that friends and people that you meet online thru social media networks are real caring people.Jun 30, 2009

I know these are not people who you can call up in an emergency but to pretend that these are NOT people at all is also wrong. There have been dozens of charity drives on social media and some have raised an enormous amount of money. http://socialnewswatch.com/social-media-charity/ http://popfail.com/social-media/social-media-charities/ http://mashable.com/tag/charity/

US judge wants to ban hypertext linking. Hahahahahaha...Jun 29, 2009

This judge must have a lot of power to even assume that he can control a link. Does he also want to ban speaking the name of a paper where you read an article? If a paper wants money. Which is what it all boils down to then they can just charge for their content. At which time I will stop reading them. NO Print means no cost of publishing. Now there may be a bandwidth charge, but advertising should take care of that. I did read the article and it says that it is a copyright issue. But then do you want readers(exposure) or not. To me a link is free publicity and a possible return reader(subscriber) to add to your numbers where you base your advertising charges from. So….

Heh. There is a reddit toolbar now. Check your preferences.Jun 29, 2009

I think that they mean the NEW toolbar that pops up when you submit a link. That is new. I would like to add it to my posts if I can figure out how to get it back there without submitting everything again and again

The Power of Paper for Everyday LifeJun 14, 2009

I find that since being digital for decades now if I don’t put it on paper it will get lost in the digital slush pile. And I also have put up a white board and the things on it get done.
And if I need info that is on my computer and I am out it is inconvenient. Where as if I carry my notepad and pen with me I have it. and can jot down stuff faster without having to turn something on or open an app.

Letting your users “Sign In With Twitter” with OAuthJun 2, 2009

OK Your OAuth examples are great. One question. I am not finding much out there with the variables that I will need for the OAuth. It keeps logging me out so I have to re-authenticate every time I want to view my app. Is there a way to prevent the time out and expire at least through one session?

Tweet Stats (Most Tweeted Posts and more)May 15, 2009

I really like the plugin. One question. Where does the count come in? Is it the amount of times your post is tweeted
or
that the keywords in the title of your post show up on Twitter as mentions by Twitter users in general?

Me In Every ThoughtMay 7, 2009

I think that this perception of ‘I’ or ‘me’ changing to a ‘we’ is much more a part of what personality type you are. I rely on the enneagram as a valid measurement. I have found few of the tests out there measure pretty accurately. You could also say, a better description than personality, is sometimes referred to as incarnations. What life are you on? Are you evolved spiritually enough? If something horrible were happening around you and you saw something miraculously good happening in the midst of all the chaos and turmoil would you marvel at the one good thing in a mountain of bad? Could you put aside the ‘me’ for the ‘we’? Being Catholic we have saints and to be sainted one usually has to have overlooked the ‘me’ at great expense for the ‘we’.

Great article. Like it.

First Look at Windows 7 Release CandidateMay 6, 2009

Yeah I am digital too.. but I back up. and when you can’t burn a cd without hooking up some external drive then there is a problem. I have thousands of photos that I have scanned while doing family history research and I don’t need them on my hard drive either. I have 18+ odd years of data I can’t expect to keep it all on a live drive. also the problem of reading some burned cds pops up. some burned cds I have can’t be read in all machines. Vista would not even READ like 90% of them, BIG PROBLEM. I could not restore my backed up files to the new OS (Vista) had to backtrack to XP just to have my email/current mp3s available.

What about burning and ripping CDs and DVDs. I take a lot of photos and Vista caused a major problem with drivers that my laptop never recovered from.
and iTunes?
